Sun Microsystems Procures Early Capacitive Coupling Technology from Polychip, Inc.
Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) today announced that it has entered into a strategic intellectual property agreement with Polychip, Inc. that includes acquiring all patent rights for pioneering work in capacitive coupling technology for direct chip-to-chip computer interconnect without wires. This agreement supports and complements current research and development at Sun in the area of Proximity Communications, and recognizes early important fundamental work in the field by Dr. David Salzman and Dr. Thomas Knight.
