Sun Unveils Mobile Software at JavaOne Conference Attended By 15,000 Developers
At JavaOne today, Rich Green, EVP of Software, Sun Microsystems, previewed a mobile phone prototype with a rich, graphical interface, made possible by new software from Sun. JavaFX Mobile, a mobile phone software system available to carriers, content owners and consumer electronics manufacturers, could help to reduce the costs of creating rich, mobile Internet devices. Dr. Djibril Diallo, director of the United Nations New York Office of Sport for Development and Peace, and chair of the UN Youth Summit series, offered his support for Sun's technology for developing countries. "Bringing the Internet to people through mobile handsets can greatly expand access, and it is imperative that the technology industry continues to innovate to make that a reality worldwide," said Diallo
